Please advise me on my maths project. The topic is geometry in sports. I have chosen my sports as basket ball. Please give me material to prepare the project report including work plan /
methodology, observations and data analysis.please reply fast.

The geometry plays a very important role in all the sports.
Whether it is cricket, hockey, football or even basketball, geometry is everywhere.

The basketball’s world is packed of geometry.

Whether the basketball players realise or not, but they make use of many geometrical concepts while playing the game.
Every phase of the game incorporates geometry in some way.
The basketball court can be regarded as a geometric gold mine.
The geometry is used even on the backboard on a basketball court.

Even the basketball ball itself has a bit of geometry in it
.
The court of the basketball comprises of geometrical structures, circles and rectangles.
A standard colligate basketball court measures 94 feet in length that is sideline and is 50 feet wide that is baseline. The centre circle measures 12 feet in diameter, while the smaller circle inside it has a diameter of 4 feet. The separation line, which is 50 feet long, splits the court in half. This creates two half-courts, each measuring 50 feet wide by 47 feet long. The free-throw lane measures 12 feet wide by 19 feet long. The 3-point arc is 19 feet 9 inches from the centre of the basket.

The backboard, which chains the rim, is four feet from the baseline. The rim is 18 inches in diameter, and is balanced exactly 10 feet above the floor. The backboard is 6 feet wide by four feet high. The white box above the rim of a backboard must be 18 inches tall and 2 feet wide.

Approximately, the diameter of  ball is 9 inches with a circumference of about 30 inches.
The path of the ball will take once it is shot down to the angle at which it is shot, the force applied and
the player's arms.
When player throws the ball from behind the free throw line, a player needs to maintain smaller angle in order to get the ball through the hoop.
Whereas, when player makes a field throw, he needs to maintain a larger angle.
When a defender comes and tries to block player's shot, he needs higher shots.

The concepts of arcs in geometry helps the players to throw the ball correctly. Just by throwing
the basketball into the basket need not work. If the ball is thrown making an arc, then the chances increases
that it will fall through the hoop.

The dribbling of basketball is also determined on mathematical terms. When the player is standing at one point, he should dribble from a lower height to maintains control over the ball.
And while running, the player should dribble from the height of his waist to move faster

and use straighter angles to pass the ball along a greater distance .
