Please anybody ! I need the answer of parts b,c, and d. Thank you
Dear Student
b) The proportional constant k is called the spring constant. It is a measure of thespring's stiffness. When a spring is stretched or compressed, so that its length changes by an amount x from its equilibrium length, then it exerts a force F = -kx in a direction towards its equilibrium position.
So from tbale of measurement
for each F = 100g there is length change of 1 cm
k = F/x = mg/x = 100 x (1000dyne/g)/1 = 105 dynes/cm
c) Length of spring when carrying load 420 g
so compression length = F/k = 420 x (1000dyne/g)/105 dynes/cm = 4.2 cm
So length of spring = 20 - 4.2 = 15.8 cm
d) F = kx = 105 dynes/cm x (20-13.2) = 6.8 x105 dynes
m =6.8 x105 dynes/1000dyne/g = 680 g
