Please explain these statements:
Chromosomal material condenses to form compact mitotic chromosomes. Chromosomes are seen to be composed of *chattached* together at the centromere.
Also, define the term *chattached*.

Dear Student,

The statement follows, "Chromosomal material condenses to form compact mitotic chromosomes. Chromosomes are seen to be composed of two chromatids attached together at the centromere".
There is no such word as chattached*.
It explains or states that, the diffused chromosome is now condensed to form a visible two sister chromatid structure with a constricted centromere. It is called 'compact mitotic chromosome' because it is having two sister chromatids which are identical to each other genetically.

Regards.

Similarities

Can only occur in eukaryotes
G phase of interphase usually occurs first
Production of daughter cells based on parent cell’s genetic material
Means of sexual reproduction in plants, animals, and fungi
Four phases occur: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase

Differences

Starts as diploid; ends as haploid Starts as haploid; ends as haploid
Reductive division Equational division
Homologous chromosome pairs separate Sister chromatids separate
Crossing over happens Crossing over does not happen
Complicated division process Simple division process
Long duration Short duration
Preceded by S-phase and G-phase Preceded only by G-phase
Sister chromatids in prophase have convergent arms Sister chromatids in prophase have divergent arms
Equatorial plane is centered Equatorial plane is rotated 90°
Prophase split into 5 sub-phases Prophase does not have sub-phases
Ends with 2 daughter cells Ends with 4 daughter cells

Actually in book, its is wrongly printed. .. if u see this line in old book , its 'attach' and not 'chattach'
  • 13
Its 'attached' not 'chattached'

Its attached😊😊

ACTUALLY THE STATEMENT IS :- CHROMOSOMAL MATERIAL CONDENSES TO FORM COMPACT MITOTIC CHROMOSOMES. CHROMOSOMES ARE SEEN TO BE COMPOSED OF TWO *CHROMATIDS ATTACHED * TOGETHER AT THE CENTROMERE.😊

...two "chromatids attached" and not "chattached"...a printing mistake!
