Please explain Types of Meristematic Tissues in detail but in easy language....please..

Types of meristematic tissues:

Meristem can be further classified based on the position or locations of meristematic tissues. They are of three types:

  • Apical meristem: They are present at the tips of stems, roots, and branches. They are responsible for the axial growth in a plant.

  • Intercalary meristem: They are present at the base of internodes, and are responsible for the growth of internodal region.

  • Lateral meristem: They are present on the lateral side of stems and roots. Lateral meristem is responsible for the radial growth of plants. Vascular cambium and cork cambium are examples of lateral meristem.

Meristenatic Tissues are known as growing tissues because they are responsible for the growth of the plant. They are present in four areas-Root tip, Stem tip, Under the leaves and around the stem.

They are classified as follows:

Root tip, Stem tip-Apical Meristem

Under the leaves-Intercalary Meristem.

Around the stem-Lateral Meristem (Cambium)

Since their main function is to divide, they have a very dense cytoplasm, this celluose walls ans prominent nulei. They dont have vacuoles because vacuoles are present for storage, not growth.
