Please solve question no.4.a.

Dear Student,

The steps involved in the brown ring test for nitric acid are as follows:
Step 1: Take freshly prepaed Ferrous sulphate ( FeSO4) and add it to aquoues solution of nirtic acid (HNO3).
Step 2: After adding HNO3 add concerntrated Sulphuric acid such that the the sulphuric acid goes along the edges of the test tube i.e. the sulphuric acid should do not fall directly in forms of drop into the solution.
Step 3: Then cool the test tube in water (using water bath)
Step 4: Now a brown ring appers at the junction of two liquids (i.e. where the two liquids starts mixing).

The balanced chemical reaction for the ring test is given below:
6 FeSO4 + 2 HNO3 + 3 H2SO4 ⟶ 3 Fe2(SO4)3 + 2 NO + 4H2O
