Please solve question no.b.iii and iv.
Dear student,
(iii) Any acid is said to be acid if there is a proton (H+) acceptor. Since water is a proton acceptor and forms a hydronium ion or in another word, acid molecules are ionized and release protons.

A dry strip of litmus and dry HCl do not contain any water, so do not get ionize, but in the presence of a drop of water, HCl is ionized and releases proton, which turns blue litmus to red.
(iv) Phosphorus pentoxide is not used to dry hydrogen chloride gas because it is very reactive in the presence of hydrogen chloride.
2P2O5 + 3HCl ----> POCl3 + 3HPO3
