Pls answer this
Given n resistors each of resistance 'R'. How will you combine them to get the (i) maximum (ii) minimum effective resistance? What is the ratio of the maximum to minimum resistance?

Dear Student,We know that, For maximum effective resistance, the resistors must be connected in series combination.So, Reff=R+R+R+..........n timesTherefore, Reff=nR =Rmax   .................(1)Now, For minimum effective resistance, the resistors must be connected in parallel combination.So, 1Reff=1R+1R+1R  ........................n times1Reff=nRTherefore, Reff=Rn=Rmin    ........................(2)Ratio of the maximum to minimum resistance RmaxRmin=nRRn=n21Therefore, Rmax:Rmin=n2:1Regards

For maximum effective resistance, the resistors must be connected in series combination. If then are n resistors each of resistance R, then the maximum effective resistance =nR
For minimum effective resistance, the resistors must be connected in parallel combination.
So, the minimum effective resistance =nR
Ratio of the maximum to minimum resistance is (R/n)nR=n2:1.

We would combine
i) the resistors in series (end to end) combination to get the maximum effective resistance.
i)the resistors in parallel combination to get the minimum effevtive resistance.
