Points on ancient, medieval and modern period

Ancient Period of history:
The History of India begins with the birth of the Indus Valley Civilization, popularly and precisely known as Harappan Civilization.
​​​​It flourished around 2,500 BC, in the western part of South Asia in Mohenjodaro and Harappa (today Pakistan) were unearthed.The ruins of buildings and other things like household articles, weapons of war, gold and silver ornaments, seals, toys, pottery wares, etc., found in these two places showed and proved that some four to five thousand years ago a highly developed Civilization flourished in this region.

Medieval period of history:
The time period in between the ancient and modern period that lasted from 5th to 15th century in European history and 8th to 18th century in Indian subcontinent is termed as Medieval Period.
The end of Western Roman Empire and the beginning of the Age of Discovery marked the beginning of Medieval Period.
It involves the study of the spread of different peasant societies, the rise of regional and imperial states and the development of Hinduism and Islam as major religions.
It is further divided into two divisions as per Indian history;
Early middle age – The period from the 8th to 13th century in India before the onset of Mughal empire.
 ii. Late middle age – Period of Indian history from 14th to 18th century. It marks the height of Mughal Empire. 

Modern period of history:
Modern period is associated with scientific, rational views.
b. It is assocaited with the spread of ideas related to modernity, with revolutions, with ideas of liberty,  equality, rule of law
c. Modern period is also associated with industrial revolution, with age of discoveries, inventions, technological advancements.
d. It is the period of urbanisation, rapid industralisation, and changes in the social structure.
e. Modern period, historians also associate with British period in India which brought about development in the country.
