prove experimentally that conduction of water takes place through xylem.

Take a beaker and fill it with water. Add some eosin drops to water. We have taken eosin because eosin stains xylem. Place a balsam twig in that colored water. After sometimes you will see that veins of leaves turned red and stem has red streaks. If we study the cross section of stem and petiole we will come to see that xylem is stained. This experiments prove that water is conducted through xylem.
