  MAKE A TRIANGLE  ABC

SIDE AB = AC [ ISOSCELES ]
AB=AC=12 CD = X
TOTAL PERIMETER =38

38 = 12 + 12 + X
   38 = 24 + X
  X = 38 - 24
X = 14  cm

area = 1/2 xbase xhieght

= 1/2 x cd x 12
= 1/2 x 14 x 12
=84 cm square

first lets find the side whose measure is not given. Let it be x.
12+12+x=38
24+x=38
x=38-24
x=14
now semi perimeter 38/2=19
a = root of 19(19-12)(19-12)(19-14)
a = root of  19*7*7*5
a= 7 root of 19*5
a=7 root of 95
