Q. If you are trying to push a heavy box on a horizontal surface list various forces acting on the box. State
the condition under which this box will start sliding on the surface. How will the magnitude of applied force required to move the box change if:
(i) weight of the box is increased
(ii) the surface on which the box is placed is made more rough?

Dear student,
Various forces acting on the box are muscular force of push, frictional force, gravitational forces etc.
The box will start moving when the external force (push) overcomes the frictional and gravitational force.
1) When the weight of the box  is increased, the gravitational pull will be high.So the  applied force required will be more.
2) If the surface on which the box is placed is more rough, the frictional force will get increased. So we will have to apply more applied force.
Regards.
