If the scale on the y-axis was 1 unit only, then point P would be 3 units above the origin, as its coordinates are (0,3). But because here the scale is 3 units on the y-axis, and point P is one unit above the origin, the y-coordinate of point P is (1×3=)3, as according to the scale, and not 1.
