Question: He is the cleverer of the two.  Is this correct or incorrect? If correct, pls tell me why is not using the superlative form than the comparative?  If incorrect what is the correct form then?

The sentence ‘He is cleverer of the two,’ is correct as we are talking about the characteristic of one person as compared to the other. It is in these cases when we use comparative form rather than superlative form. If this was being talked about in context of many people, the sentence would have been ‘He is the cleverest of all’. A superlative adjective expresses the extreme or highest degree of a quality. We use a superlative adjective to describe the extreme quality of one thing in a group of things. For example, ‘largest’, ‘brightest’, ‘most intelligent’, etc are superlative forms of the adjectives ‘large’, ‘bright’ and ‘intelligent’.
