Report on Global warming - Causes and Effects. Illustrate with pictures

Dear Student,

You can add these points while writting the report.

Several points which could be taken into consideration while framing this answer are:
  • Global Warming is an increase in the earth's atmospheric temperatures widely due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution.
  • Global warming is melting of ice from poles because of the increase in the extent of carbon dioxide. If due to global warming all the ice from our poles melt into water, the water level on earth increases and submerge the land.
  • Another major cause of global warming is deforestation.
  • Sea levels are expected to rise between 7 and 23 inches (18 and 59 centimetres) by the end of the century, and continued melting at the poles could add between 4 and 8 inches (10 to 20 centimetres).
  • Less fresh water will be available.
  • Species that depend on one another may become out of sync. For example, plants could bloom earlier than their pollinating insects become active.
  • Natural calamities and disaster would occur at lesser frequencies and with more destructive power. Hurricanes and other storms are likely to become stronger.
  • Severe heat waves would lead to death of millions of people all around the world.
  • While the idea of swimming in a warmer ocean is pleasant to most human beings, increasing ocean temperatures could cause serious ecological damage.
The main cause of the global warming are
1) Deforestation Millions of acres of forest are cleared every year, whether to harvest wood for making lumber or paper, to clear land for farming and ranching or to make way for residential and industrial areas.
2) Use of Aerosols Though some forms of aerosols have been banned in many countries, other forms of them still are in wide use. These products are loaded with greenhouse gases, including CO2 and methane, as well as chlorofluorocarbons, which erode the ozone layer.
3) Travel & Transportation The vast majority of vehicles on the road (and in the air and water) are powered via fossil fuels, such as gasoline. As they burn this fuel to power their engines, these vehicles release carbon and other pollutants, affecting both air and water quality

ollowing are the effects of global warming:
(a) Changes in the direction of the flow of rivers: Global warming causes glacial ice to melt, leading to reductions in the snow cover. This in turn will reduce water availability and the hydropower potential of rivers.
(b) Rising sea levels: Due to rising temperatures, ice sheets melt, causing excess flooding. This may lead to islands getting submerged.
(c) Glaciers: Global warming may lead to a decline in the volume of water stored as ice; the melting of glacial ice raises the mean sea level. These mountain glaciers are significant sources of water for a balanced ecosystem.
(d) Agriculture: The agricultural production is likely to increase in some regions and decline in others because of climate change.
(e) Human health: Human health will be affected due to malnutrition, diseases and increased deaths.
(f) Depletion of the ozone layer in the stratosphere: CFCs escape into the stratosphere and cause the destruction of ozone.
