Ritika bought a few green apples and few red apples. There were 35 more green apples than red apples. If the ratio of green apples to red apples was 8:3, how many apples of each variety did she bring?

Let the number of red apples = xThen the number of green apples = x + 35Now, according to question :   x + 35x = 838x = 3x  + 1058x - 3x = 1055x = 105x = 1055 = 21So, number of red apples = 21Number of green apples = 21 + 35 = 56

Let the green apples be 8x and red apples be 3x.
8x -35=3x
8x-3x=35
5x=35
x=35/5
  =7
Therefore,green apples=8x7                                                    red apples=3x7
                                    =42 apples                                                            =21 apples

8x-35=3x
8x-3x=35
5x=35
x=35 or5
there is 8x7= 42 green apples  3x7 =21 red apples
