show the activity ofdecantation and filteration by taking muddy water

Dear Student

The muddy water is first subjected to sedimentation process, in which the beaker containing muddy water is allowed to stand undisturbed.

After some time, the mud settles at the bottom of the beaker.
Then the decantation process is carried out, in which the clear liquid obtained after sedimentation, is transferred into another container, without disturbing the settled particles.
The liquid obtained is then subjected to filtration process, so that any  impurities left is separated.
In filtration process, the decanted liquid is passed through the filter paper, fixed to a funnel. As a result of which, clear water is obtained.

 Hope this information helps you.
Best Wishes!
