Sir/mam please provide the reason too ? Li has w shells whereas Sulphur has 3 shells but Li is present on the leftmost side and atomic size decreases across a period? Pls answer as soon as possible
Solution-
Sulphar being having 3 shell more than lithium which has 2 shell is smaller in size than lithium because as the no. Of electron increase the effective nuclear charge increases which makes the nuclear contract more and the size shrinks due to pulling effect from nuclear .
The atomic size of lithium is 182 pm while that of sulphur is around 100 pm
