State the function and location of palisade cell

Dear student,Palisade parenchyma are the column shaped cells which are beneath the upper surface epidermis of leaf. These cells contain numerous chloroplast in a thin layer of cytoplasm. It is the main photosynthetic tissue. Palisade cells have large number of chloroplasts by which they are capable of absorbing light and converting it to energy for photosynthesis. Regards
