The areas of 3 adjacent faces of a cuboid are 180 sq.cm , 96 sq. cm and 120 sq. cm . Find the volume of the cuboid ?

Hi!

Here is the answer to your question:

Let the three sides of the cuboid be a, b and c.

Then
a × b = 180 cm2  (1)
b × c = 96 cm2  (2)
c × a = 120 cm2  (3)

On multiplying equations (1), (2) and (3)

(a × b) × (b × c) × (c × a) = 180 × 96 × 120

a2 × b2 × c2 = 2073600
(a × b × c)2 = 2073600
a × b × c = 1440 cm3

Volume of the cuboid = 1440 cm3

L X B=180 SQ CM

B X H=96 SQ CM

L X H=120 SQ CM

L x B = 180 sq Cm ..........(1)

BxH = 96 Sq cm................(2)

LxH = 120 Sq cm..............(3)

(L x B) /(B x H) = 180/96

L /H =(180/96)

L = (180/96) x H

Now putting value of L in equ (3) LxH = 120

Therfore (180/96) x H x H = 120

H2 = (120 x96) / 180 = 64

H = 8 cm, L = (180/96) x8 = 15cm, B =96/8 = 12 Cm

Volume = L x B x H = 15 x 12 x 8 = 1440 cm2

This the simple method of solving this sum.
