The curved surface area of a cylindrical pillar is 264 m3 and its volume is 924 m3.Find the height of the pillar?
Let the radius of the cylinder is r and the height be h.
So the volume of the cylinder = πr2h
and the curved surface area is 2πrh
πr2h = 924m3 (i)
and 2πrh = 264 m2 (ii)
dividing (i) by (ii), we get
So putting r = 7m, in (ii), we get
2πrh = 264m2
2 ⨯22/7 ⨯7⨯ h = 264
so h = 6 m
So the height of the pillar is 6m.
