Dear Student,Let us assume that the number is X. So the equation we get from the problem: X - 84 = 108 - X X + X = 108 + 84 2X = 192 X = 192 / 2 X = 96. Since 96 is (96-84=12) 12 more than 84 & (108 - 96 = 12) 12 less than 108. Ans: 96. Regards.

let no be = a 
ratio of 84 is less than the number = a-84
difference is 108= 108-a
equation will be 
a-84=108-a
a+a=108+84
2a = 192
a = 192/2
a= 192/2 96
a = 96 
is it right expert
