Initial population of the city (P) = 20,000
Rate of increase (R) = 5% pa
N (number of years) =3
Population of the city after 3 years = A

A = 20000(1+5/100)³
     = 20000(105/100)³
    = (20000 x 105 x 105 x 105)/(100 x 100 x 100)
A = 23152.5
So, population of city after 3 years = 23152.5
So, by rounding of the answer we can tell , population of city after 3 years = 23153.
