Respiratory quotient is defined as the ratio of the volume of carbon dioxide released to the volume of oxygen consumed in respiration over a period of time. 
RQ = Volume of carbon dioxide releasedVolume of oxygen absorbed
During anaerobic respiration, there is no consumption of oxygen. Carbon dioxide is produced in most of the cases. Hence, respiratory quotient is infinity.

RQ = Volume of carbon dioxide releasedVolume of oxygen absorbed = Volume of carbon dioxide0 = Infinity
