Three consecutive integers are such that when they are taken in increasing order and multiplied by 2,3and 4, respectivly they add up to 74. find these numbers?

Let the consecutive no.s be x, (x+1) and (x+2).

Multiplying it by 2, 3 and 4 respectively, we get,

2(x) = 2x

3(x+1) =3x +3

4(x+2) = 4x + 8

Forming the equation, we get,

2x+ 3x+3 + 4x +8 = 74(As the consecutive no.s add up to 74)

9x + 11 = 74

9x = 74 -11

9x = 63

x = 63/9 = 7

x =7

Therefore the no.s are 7(x), 8(x+1) and 9(x+2).

Hope this helps!!!!!!

let the integers be x , (x+1) , (x+2)

after multiplication with 2,3,4 we get

2(x)=2x , 3(x+1)= 3x+3 , 4(x+2) = 4x+8

by the question,

2x+3x+3+4x+8=74

2x+3x+4x+3+8=74

9x+11=74

9x=74-11

9x=63

x=63/9=7

answer is X=7
