When Carter finally discovered Tut's tomb after years of search, he began recording the treasures in the tomb and also investigated the three-layered coffin thereafter. The first layer of the coffin had garlands of olive leaves, lotus petals and corn flowers, which hinted that the burial was done in the months of March or April, when such plants are available.
