Two cubes have their volumes in the ratio 1 : 27. Find the ratio of their surface areas.

Hi Uday, given a^3 : b^3 = 1 : 27 = 1 : 3^3
==> a/b = 1/3
Now area = 6 a^2 and 6 b^2
So the required ratio = a^2/b^2 = (a/b)^2 = (1/3)^2 = 1/9
Hence 1 : 9 is the answer
