Water as ice has a cooling effect. Explain

Dear student,

When water is present in the form of ice it shows the cooling effect because ice forms at a lower temperature, due to the low temperature ice show a cooling effect and can be added to the drinks.

The temperature of ice is 00 C or 273 K. Thus when ice is kept in contact with another substance whose temperature is higher than 00 C, heat is transferred from the substance to ice. This transfer of heat brings about the cooling of the substance.
