Magnetic field lines are graphical representation of magnetic field in a given region. These are imaginary lines which are drawn to specify the direction and nature of magnetic field. These are called magnetic lines of forces because they causes a force on the charge, current and magnets in the region in which they the are present.

The characteristics of magnetic field lines are

1)they never intersect each other.

2)they move from north to south inside and south to north out side the magnet. 3)magnetic field lines of force are crowded(i.e. close to each other) in a region of strong magnetic field.on other hand magnetic lines of force are far from each other in a region of weak magnetic field. 4)they are closed continues curves.
