What are primary and secondary coils?

🙏🏼 Please explain in brief 🙏🏼

Dear student,
Transformer has two coils, primary and secondary coil.
In electromagnetic induction,

The primary coil is the one in which the voltage is applied, thus it is considered to be 'input'. Primary coil is the part of the circuit which is connected to battery and alternating current flows through it. Due to this current flow in the primary coil, the magnetic flux changes and current induces in the secondary coil.
Whereas the secondary coil is the one in which a voltage is induced by electromagnetism, thus it is considered to be 'output'.
Depending upon the numbers of turns in primary and secondary coil, the transformer act as either step up transformer or step down transformer.
if number of turns in primary coil > no of turns in the secondary coil then the transformer will act as a step down transformer.
and if the number of turns in the secondary transformer > the number of turns in primary coil then the transformer will act as a step up transformer.
