What are synthetic fibers? how are they obtained? what are are the differences between synthetic and natural fibers

Dear student,
Refer below for above asked query:-

Synthetic fibres are those fibres which have been made artificially, using chemicals. That is why they are known as synthetic fibres. Rayon, nylon, acrylic, and polyester are examples of such fibres.

They have been used in making ropes, tooth brush bristles, non stick crockery, bottles, jars, wires, etc.

Synthetic fibres are made by humans using chemicals derived from raw materials like petroleum. It is a chain of small units joined together to form a large single unit called a polymer. Examples are:Rayon, Nylon, Acrylic & Polyester.

  Natural Fibre Synthetic Fibre
1 Natural fibers are fibers that are found in nature. Ex: Wool, silk, and cotton etc. These fibres are man made or simply prepared in lab. Ex: Nylon, Teflon etc.
2 They are good absorbents and so able to absorb heat, temperature, cold , sweat etc. depending on conditions and nature of fibres. They do not have such pores as they are made up of chemicals and so do not act as good absorbents.
3 No spinning process is required for filament production. Melting, wet or dry spinning processes are used for filament production.
4 Comfortable in use. Not as comfortable as natural fibres.
5 Their length is naturally obtained and it is not possible to change the fibre structure. Their lengths can be controlled by man and the fibres can easily be changed to different structures.
