what are the adaptive features of cactus
The adaptive features of cactus are the followings:-
- The cactus is able to adapt to its harsh environment, because it is able to collect water from its roots and store it on its thick stems for drought periods. When there is no more water, the stems shrink in size so as to reduce the loosing of moisture from the plant.
- Cactiare well adapted for the desert environment. They have needle-like leaves, stomata surrounded by hairs andthick waxy cuticleson the leaves. These features radically minimize the plants' water loss by transpiration allowing them to thrive in these extreme conditions.
