WHAT are the agents of erosion and deposition?

The movement of rocks and sediments from one place to the other is called erosion. The dropping of these sediments or rocks in another place is called deposition. the common agents of erosion and deposition are water, wind, ice and gravity.

Agents of Erosion and Deposition

Erosion-  the transport/movement of sediment. Sediment is eventually deposited(dropped).

Deposition - the settling of particles.

Gravity drives most of erosion and deposition!

The change in the velocity of moving liquid water (and wind) will  determine if a particle is deposited or transported. Because of this, particles are usually well  sorted when deposited. Ice and gravity by itself usualy drop all  sizes and shapes together.  The particles are usually unsorted.
