  • mouth of cockroach= labrum = hypopharyn
  • labrum contains antennae, mandible, first and second maxillae
  • 1st and second maxillae helps in picking up of food materials, and bring it in between the two mandibles.
  • whereas the mandible contain denticle strong and pointed teeth like process, which helps in cutting and chewing of food particle. there adductor and abductor muscles associated with the mandibles move food particle in horizontal plane for cutting and chewing.
