WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS IN PERMANENT SETTLEMENT THAT ULTIMATELY LED TO AN CHANGE?

the problem in the permanent settlement was that the revenue rate will never be increased.there will be only a certain amount which would be given to the company by the zamindars .so when the production of the crops increased.more revenue was collected but it was not given to company only the same revenue amount was given.after which the company thought thatthe zamindars are getting a lot of profit wile were not at all interested in investing in the field .so at last it led to a change.....

hope it helps...

Zamindari was madeba hereditary right of the zamindars under the Permanent Settlement or Zamindari Bandobast . In the permanent settlement the owners of the land & were forced to pay 89% of the total revenue to the British Government . Their own sharer were 11%.

The system gave birth to a new class of landlords called ZAMINDARS  who had the power to evict any farmer due to the non payment of revenue. As such they used oppresive methods to collect the taxes. the position of of the cultivators became miserable. On the other hand , maximum benefits went to the zmindars

the problem was that the revenue would be fixed and would never change.british thought

that zamindars might take interest but nobody was interested.peasants couldnt pay the

revenue because the amount was too high.as a result the british could not get money .their

main aim was to make money.

in the permanent settlement the revenue was fixed so high that the zamindars couldn't pay and lost their zamindari..

the zamindars did not invest at all in the land

there was a regular flow of revenue to the british

when the zamindars made profit, no part of it was given to the british

give it a thumps up!!

The permanent settlement , however, created problems. Company officials soon discovered that the zamindars were in fact not investing in the improvement of land. The revenue that had been fixed was so high that the zamindars found it difficult to pay. Anyone who failed to pay revenue lost his zamindari post. Numerous zamindaris were sold off at auctions organised by the Company.
