What are the reasons behind the formation of great rift valley??

Dear Student,

A rift valley is a  lowland formed by the upliftment of the adjacent areas of a block of land. This upliftment happens due to vertical faults created on the sides of the block. The tension between the block and its adjoining areas increases and is aided by erosion. Over time, the block sinks downwards.
Africa's Great Rift Valley is a 6,000-mile break (gap) in the Earth's surface, extending from Lebanon to Mozambique. One of its most sensational areas cuts through East Africa,  powers that divided Kenya into two portions. Geologists realized that the Rift Valley was framed by strong underground. that destroyed the earth's crust of that particular area. These powers made tremendous lumps of the covering sink between equal separation points and power up molten stones or lava in volcanic emissions. Proof that this cycle, called rifting, is as yet in progress, comes from the numerous dynamic and semi-dynamic volcanoes, situated along the Rift. Proof of volcanic action along the crack is given by the presence of various extremely hot springs.
