1.  The basic rule to subtract integers is to add the additive inverse of the integer that is being subtracted to the other integer.
2.  Steps to subtract integers are given below:

Step 1: Find the additive inverse of the integer that is being subtracted.

Step 2: Add the additive inverse of the integer to be subtracted to the other given integer.

3. We use additive inverse to subtract integers because it is easier to add the additive inverse of the integer being subtracted to the other integer. Otherwise we have to multiply the integers, which is not taught in your grade.
