1.Motion of Earth around the sun along the orbit.

and

2.Motion of Earth on its own axis..

The prime similarity is:

Both are one kind of rotational motion. In one motion earth rotates about an axis passing through its center while in other case the earth rotates about an axis passing through the sun.

   Similarity :  The earth moves  on its axis and  along the orbit around the sun.

                         Another similarity is the climatic condition based on the revolution.

Differences :  when the earth rotates it rotates on its own axis day and night occur.

                         When the earth revolves around the sun along the orbit it takes a year (365 days/ leap year 366 days) per revolution.
