What do we mean by the statement, " The fruits can be left on the tree longer so as to extend the 'market period' " ??

It is so as Gibberellins cause fruits like apple to elongate and improve its shape. They also delay senescence. Thus, the fruits can be left on the tree longer so as to extend the market period. GA3 is used to speed up the malting process in brewing industry.

if the fruits are dropped from the trees in their season, they will be sold at the common or low prices because there is no scrcity of these types fruits. but f they remain on the trees for a longer time up to when their season take off these fruits do not found in market then thy can be sold at the very high prices because the season of these fruits has gone.

for ex. if you buy mangoes in winters they will be most coastly than in summers.
