According to Jerome, the ambition of Montmorency was to distract and disturb people while they were working. Montmorency was a little dog. By nature, he was mischievous. Whenever he felt bored and had no one to play with, he would end up troubling others who were busy with their work. They did not want to disturb anyone deliberately. However, he used to get bored when he had no one to play. It was simply an effort to find someone to play.
