The extraordinary human disaster which Nelson Mandela was referring to was about the apartheid which was then practised in South Africa and also about division between the races. He says these words by considering the period in which he lived especially, in South Africa. During that time there was a racial segregation based on colour. they were segregated as the blacks and the whites. The blacks were called the oppressed and the whites were called the oppressors. The blacks were discriminated very badly by the whites. they were not allowed to demand freedom or any other right. Their humanity is violated completely. Nelson Mandela himself spent almost around 28 years in the prison of South Africa where he was beaten mercilessly. He was imprisoned because he fought against the whites for the freedom of blacks. Finally after many years of revolt and struggle he felt glorious when a black apartheid became the president of South Africa.
