what does the word spoonerism mean?

Named after Reverened Archibald Spooner, who was the Warden of New College, Oxford, and notorious for the habit, 'Spoonerism' is the mistake in speaking where one exchanges the syllables.

Eg: Tease my ears would become Ease my tears or A lack of pies would become a pack of lies etc.
