What happens to a slice of bread kept in a moist dark place

If a slice of bread is kept in moist, dark place-light hairy growth appears on the surface. This hairy growth is known as bread mold. This bread mold is actually a fungus. The spore from the fungus is being blown by the wind and this will reach the surface of the bread. Once the spore reaches the bread surface, it will start to use the nutrients and moisture in the bread to grow.
