# What happens to the resistance when length of conductor is doubled without affecting the thickness of conductor

We know,

Resistance is directly proportional to the length of a conductor.
Resistance is inversely proportional to the area of cross - section ( thickness ) of the conductor.

Hence,   If the length of a conductor is doubled, then the resistance will also get doubled. ( Resistance is directly proportional to length of the conductor )

• 1
l1=2l
A1=A
f1=f
therefore , R=fl/A
=f2l/A=2fl/A
hence, resistance will be double
