What is advantages and disadvantages of Tap root and fibrous root ?

Advantages of fibrous root
Fibrous roots holds the plants more firmly in comparison to tap root. Several branch like roots of fibrous system are wide spread which helps in accessing more nutrients and moisture from the soil. It also helps in preventing soil erosion.
Advantages of tap roots
Tap roots anchor deeply inside the soil and may reach water table. They stabilise plants growing in shifting soil area. Mostly tap roots are modified for storage of food.
Disadvantage of fibrous roots
Fibrous root can not reach deep inside the soil for water and minerals therefore is not good for drought condition.
Disadvantage of tap roots
Tap root could not obtain water efficiently from upper layer of soil.
