What is Atherosclerosis, Arteriosclerosis and Angina Pectoris?

Atherosclerosis is clinical term for thickening of arterial wall due to deposition of cholesterol, triglycerides and other fatty material in the arteries. Due to this arteries become constricted for blood flow leading to severe heart problems.
While Arteriosclerosis is a general term for any hardening or obstruction in arteries.
Angina pectoris is term used to describe heart or chest pain commonly called as angina. This can be due to coronary heart disease or due to atherosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis is a disorder in which Calcium Fatty acids deposits on the artery wall and results in narrowing of the arterial lumen which increases blood pressure.


Angina Pectoris is another disorder in which heavy chest pain is experienced due to obstructions in coronary arteries that supply blood to heart muscles. This may be due to Atherosclerosis.
