What is CCl4?Please explain.

Dear student,

CCl4 may be considered a member of the family: CH4, CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, CHCl3, and CCl4 in which the molecules following methane (CH4) are derived by replacing hydrogen of methane. Since methane and other molecules are organic, CCl4 is also organic.

Moreover, the properties of CCl4 are similar to organic compounds. Example: It is used as a solvent for organic compounds. Therefore, CCl4 is an organic compound.
