What is difference between coarse adjustment and fine adjustment

Dear student, The coarse adjustment covers the entire range from minimum to maximum. In contrast, the fine adjustment only covers a fraction of the entire range. Coarse adjustment knob moves stage up and down in large increment to bring image into right focus. Fine adjustment knob,moves stage slightly to bring image into sharp focus.Regards
