What is earth's magnetic field? Why always a compass oint in north direction?
Our earth possesses magnetic field of its own which is known as earth's magnetic field.Our Earth acts like very large magnet whose north pole is in South (geographic) and south pole is in North (geographic).
We know that like poles of magnet always repel and unlike poles always attract each other. Now, as unlike pole always attract each other, the compass always points toward north and south direction, with its north pole pointing towards North.
