What is Erythrolysis

Erythrolysis (also called hemolysis, erythrocytolysis) refers to destruction of red blood cells causing release of pigment haemoglobin from them into the plasma. It happens before the normal life span of red blood cells. It may occur due to metabolic abnormalities of the red cells, destruction by phagocytes,etc. It results into anaemia.
