Guncotton chemically known as nitrocellulose which is a mild explosive. Guncotton is used as propellants in rockets , printing ink bases, leather finishing. Billiard balls are prepared by using guncotton and camphor. Guncotton is prepared by the treatment of cotton with a mixture of concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids, which replaces the hydrogen atom on the OH groups in the cellulose polymers with nitro.
